The Story Behind Shadowman Candles

Shadowman Candles began as a hobby in my dining room. After a long day at the office, I would come home, tend to my two Yorkies, turn on some tranquil spa music, pour myself a glass of wine, and get completely carried away making candles for my own personal use.

It was therapeutic for me, and honestly, it still is.

I’ve always loved candles. If there was a candle sale at the local B&BW or Yankee Candle, you could bet I was there with my checkbook in hand. I love the way candles make my home smell and, more importantly, how they can change my mood, from calm and relaxed to energized and uplifted. So when I finally decided to try making them myself, it seemed like a natural fit.

After countless days, weeks, and months of making candles for myself, friends, family, and coworkers, I was repeatedly encouraged to try selling them.

My first thought? “Yeah, right. My candles aren’t good enough to sell.”

Eventually, I decided to take the leap and turn my hobby into a little side business. I figured, what do I have to lose?

And here I am.

But Shadowman Candles means much more to me than simply turning a hobby into a business.

The name Shadowman is a tribute to my late husband, Tommy, and his incredible lifetime of creativity. Shadowman was his copyrighted character, which he created and drew throughout his life. Naming my business Shadowman Candles is my way of honoring him, keeping his creativity and memory alive, and carrying a piece of his legacy forward while creating new memories of my own.

Every candle I make carries a little piece of that story with it.

I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them.

Thank you for visiting Shadowman Candles, supporting my small business, and taking the time to get to know the story behind it.
