About Us

Shadowman Candles began as a hobby in my dining room where, after spending a long day at the office, I would come home and tend to my two Yorkies, turn on some tranquil spa music and pour myself a glass of wine, then just get carried away with making candles for my own personal use.  It was therapeutic for me, and still is.  I’ve always loved candles. If there was a candle sale at the local B&BW or Yankee Candle near me, you bet I was there with checkbook in hand.  I love the way candles make my house smell and how they enhance my mood (anywhere from calm & relaxed to energized & uplifting). So, when I finally decided to delve into candle-making, I thought it seemed fitting.

After spending countless days, weeks, and months making them for use and gift-giving, it was at the suggestion of my friends, family and coworkers that I should try selling them.  I thought, “yeah right, my candles aren’t good enough to sell.”  That was, until one day I finally decided to take the official leap into turning my hobby into a side business.  I thought, what do I have to lose?  So, here I am.

Besides, opening a candle shop also gave me a reason to incorporate the name 'Shadowman', as I found it to be a fitting tribute to my late husband Tommy, because of his copyrighted character of Shadowman for which he owned and drew for the span of his life until the day he died several years ago.  So, by naming my business Shadowman Candles, this is my way of honoring my late husband, his lifetime of creativity and keeping his memory alive for years to come, while making new memories of my own and sharing my creations with you.
